Wow, Clinton. He running again? Damn, hope so.

But to your comment: Clinton got a deferment. He did so openly and didn't try and conceal what he was doing. He acted in concert with his beliefs and, unlike the current shame of america in the white house, he didn't try and make himself out as anything but a student with a deferment.

Now if he had started parading himself around on an aircraft carrier in flight suit and codpiece then you might have a case but he didn't.

Just as Kerry hasn't made himself out as anything but what he is: a five times decorated veteran who served not four months but one year and four months in vietnam. He fulfilled more than his obligation to fight for his country.

Where was georgie? What bottle was he hiding under when he should have been honoring the meager champagne squadron committment he got his daddy to buy him into?

While the other slunk away from the conflict and instead of honestly and openly getting such a deferment chose to take on the appearance of someone fighting for thier country with full knowledge that he would never have to face any real danger and even couldn't be bothered to fulfill that obligation.

It's all about character and standing up and taking responsibility for your actions and true beliefs.

    It's all about honor.

WHY the fuck are Kerry's self inflicted wounds an issue now?

Clinton didn't send hundreds of thousands of men and women to war without a plan.

I see a lot of irony and a boatload of hypocrisy with a man who is so willing to send others to war, yet spent his time avoiding it so he could stick shit up his nose.

    That just ain't right.

Actually Kerry did a year on a destroyer off the coast of Vietnam. Then did 4 months in the swift boats.

I don't care how much time Kerry "served" in Nam. His actions upon his return make him as fit for the presidency as Jane Fonda.

Kerry served "IN" Vietnam for 4 months. Kerry served on a boat off the coast of Vietnam far away from any real danger for 1 year.

Then we Kerry got off of active duty, he was obligated to fufill a reserve duty which he ignored and went to Paris to negotiate on the side of the NVA....

The year that he served onboard counted as service in vietnam. The point is that he was under no threat of being rotated to duty in vietnam itself but instead volunteered to go. Didn't have to. Could have just finished up his time and gone home, safe and sound.

But he chose to support his country and volunteered for combat.

As for your being safe comment: Are you suggesting that only the people who actually were being shot at served honorably? Is it a percentage thing? You know supply guys who keep the guys under fire alive - they're just pussies who don't count. The folks that served up napalm and other air support - statistically they were safer than most, but I guess only the ones that actually got shot down were real soldiers?

And where does that leave champagne george? You know mr. flight suit action figure man.
